Frangipani

It may be peony season in blogland, but I am officially besotted with frangipani---this beautiful yellow flower that grows prolifically in this Florida garden in both it's pink and yellow forms. It has the most amazing scent, almost a mix of floral and musky, that wafts through open windows and all around the garden when the wind blows. I've never encountered it before and was enlightened as to it's name by Grouchy who left a comment on a previous post. It is so delicious, I have set jars of it in the guest bedroom and bathrooms, office and on the living window sill mixed with a little bougainvillea for a particularly exuberant bouquet.

  1. They are absolutely beautiful. I remember when my son was small a friend brought back a children's book from Jamaica. It mentioned Frangipani and I always wondered what they looked like.
    Now I know!

  7. My all time favorite. I've always called it Plumeria, and I only learned recently that it goes by franipani as well. You see it all over Hawaii, and it's everywhere around Sydney Australia too. I think I can smell it from here! Your floral arrangement is gorgeous! Wish I was in Florida right now. ;)

  8. It is so beautiful. Far too cold here in Tasmania to grow it so I have to wait until I fly to the mainland to smell that delicious scent.
Your loungeroom looks so pretty :)

  9. Frangipangi AND bouganvillea...show off. I bought 2 frangipangi once, one for my Mom in Florida which she planted under an avocado and flourished, one for me in NJ which I planted in a pot and gave me one flower a year for three years then shriveled, oh well. Enjoy it.
