Diane Keaton's Beverly Hills Spanish Colonial Revival Home

I think this would look prettier in the daytime, so you could see the gorgeous iron window grilles, arched doorway, Cuban tile roof. I love the 2 towers
I would love to copy this fireplace in our house.

A beautiful sightline from the arched doorway through to the loggia with fountain and onward through another arched doorway.

The Spanish tiled floors are weathered and beautiful

Ever since purchasing our 1936 Monterey Style home in St. Petersburg, Florida, I've become a little obsessed with Spanish Colonial Revival and Mission Style homes. In my research on this style of home, I have discovered that Actress and Producer Diane Keaton has become a faithful restorer and preservationist of this style of home in California. She's also put together a couple of books, one of which I am reading right now...California Romantica. I am not sure if I can say written because the text is by D.J.Waldie and photos by Lisa Hardway and Paul Hester, but her compilation of photos in this book is fabulous. This is not about the decorating, purely about the stunning architecture.

The house featured above was featured in Architectural Digest, I believe in 2008. You can read the article HERE.

  1. Oh my . . . everything I like. EVERYTHING exuding such comfort. The cacti in the large pottery . . . stunning. And the pottery in colors . . . Maybe Fiesta . . . probably a Mexican pottery? Love the arched fireplace . . . . . the mind and eye message in the library . . . Loved! I am excited to see how you will capture your ideas and style in St. Pete's . . .

    1. I believe the pottery is Bauer. It was produced in Southern California from around the 1930's to the 1960's. I still have a lot of it that I bought in the 1970's and 1980's from garage sales! I absolutely love it but no one wanted it at the time because styles were different.

  2. This is a beautiful post and I love the repetition of the arch in the home.
I also like the Spanish style architecture and it looks in place in a warmer climate such as Florida and Califoria and NM

  8. Oh my! I have a new style to covet. I love that library and the kitchen, well it's all gorgeous. I think I need to hunt Diane down now that I live here and get her to give you a private tour. You know. I've always admired her personal style. Now I see it leaks over into her architectural and decorating preferences. So cool. Ann

  9. Interesting. I cannot say that I love it all but I am really intrigued by certain aspects of this style. The library image is stunning and I do love the kitchen one as well. Some of it is a bit over the top for me but it is refreshing to see something different. Cutesie seems to be everywhere these days. I like style that speaks to character or personality.
