After grumbling for weeks about the Pool Builders and their series of errors, we arrived to a pool that took my breath away. Beautifully done tile and stone work, and my design followed to a T. The wrong coping no longer seems an issue, and we have final approval from the inspector for all the grading, safety protection etc. It seems like they knew what they were doing after all. My pool cam stalking has left me a feeling a little apologetic. In all likelihood, they would have caught their mistakes as they went along and the outcome would have been the same when we arrived. But like a dog with a bone. I just couldn't let it go. Now my tail is between my legs a little bit. Especially when the pool guy asked if it looked better in real life than on the video.

  5. Oh how fun! It is cold winter here. What I wouldn't give to sit there for a day! It turned out beautiful. Do you know why the water looked green? It looks blue now. I love that blue tile. It is so classy. In the end as long as you are happy. If you feel bad bake them a cake (not that I would know anything about 'cake I'm sorries":)

  13. It is so beautiful! and don't feel bad for making them toe the line, sometimes knowing there is someone looking over their shoulder makes them try a little harder.

  14. Gorgeous! You must be thrilled. Glad it all worked out so well for you. Doing anything long distance is hard. It's hard to trust and then let go of the whole thing without losing all control of the project. Well done!

  17. It looks beautiful and don't worry about the pool guys. You have now given them a new bar by which to judge all future customers. I hope you know I'm kidding. Sounds like they understood as well. It looks beautiful and now you can start making beautiful memories around and in it! Ann

  18. P.S. AND you probably earned a new nickname in the process, "The Crazy Canadian" - I would have been acting in exactly the same fashion if I had to deal with that from afar - you haven't heard my stories about about how crazy I got with the property managers handling our house in Orlando.... "The Crazy Californian" is my new name, I'm sure. Ann

  22. You were the one paying for this job, you had every right to be watching and looking over the work done. If you had been there, you would have looked at it every day and asked questions too. Do not feel guilty !
It is beautiful and I am so happy and relieved for you !
Now go lie back and put your feet up and relax :)

  23. WOW! This looks like something out of the pages of Restoration Hardware. It is beautiful beyond words. I am so happy that you are pleased with the outcome. Things always look better in real life, especially when one can dip her toes in, and then sit back and watch the blue skies being reflected in the pristine water. Enjoy!
