How to Be a Bath Puff For Halloween!

Go HERE for a How to.....

Please note that they are wearing sleeveless tube tops/tanks and shorts underneath. These are women in their mid 20's.  Younger girls could wear a body suit and leggings underneath.

I think I've seen every type of Halloween costume around.  Except this one.  This is my girl (left) and her friend in their Bath Puff costumes. On Wednesday I met her for lunch and we tried to figure out how she could make this by herself with no sewing and no gluing as netting doesn't stay stuck with glue. The prototype had to something you could easily sit down and be reasonably comfy. So over the proverbial paper napkin, we came up with a plan. You may also like to see how she turned a mans shirt into a tunic dress HERE

She went home and made this all by herself.  Her friend made one too and they donned their heels and took a taxi across town dressed as a pair of loofahs.  I think they both did a super job of it.

DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING DEMAND FOR A HOW TO....i HAVE POSTED DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS HERE...Bath Pouff Loofah Costume How to Instructions.

  1. HA!

So I saw a costume recently as well. I am embarrassed to say what it was. But it wasn't nearly as comfy as these.

  16. This is SUPER cute and I'd like to try to make this! In step 3, do you cute lengthwise or width-wise to create the 8 pieces? I actually have one 5-yard piece and one 15-yard (due to the roll at the craft store). Hope that doesn't matter!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Gina, roll out all of your yardage length wise and cut your pieces. She unrolled it all and then cut it off in strips, then she folded them like making a bow, and tied it in the middle. Hope this helps. That way you have lots of layers.

  27. I am confused on the 4th and 5th step! What am I using the 6" elastic piece for in step 4? And how many pieces do I tie around it? I LOVE this costume!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My version of this costume turned out great! It was a big hit at work... wish I could post a photo! The elastic strips are used to cinch / tie the middle of the folded pieces of netting. You'll stick that part under the elastic around your body before poofing out the layers.

  29. Love this idea! Will definitely be one next year!

  33. Could you post some revised directions for this costume? It is super cute and I'm really interested in making it, but I don't understand where the 6 inch segment of elastic goes and how the loofah looks so full when you are only tying the fabric at your chest and hips.

    1. Hi Anon,

I am "girl child's" friend in the photo. I made my loofa a tad differently so I'll post my instructions too.

I bought a simple black cotton stretch skirt, and black cotton stretch tube top from H&M ($8 each). Then I also cut the Tulle lengthwise into segments. TO be honest, I did not measure them. However I scrunched up each segment and held it together with an elastic and they were each about the size of a large bath puff.
Next step: I pinned each segment to the shirt until it was full. Then I did the same to the skirt. I fluffed them up making sure you couldn't see any black fabric from my skirt or shirt. Then I added a few extra scrunched up tulle puffs and pinned them - just for added volume.

      Ta da :)

  37. Thanks for the idea! Our fabric store carries the netting in a 2 foot length bolt or in a 3 foot length bolt. What length should we use? I realize I need 20 yards, but what was your width?

  44. im not sure after you have completed 3 seperate elastics with the netting and poof it up do they just slip around your waist, stomach and again up higher around your body?
will it be able to cover your butt or shorts you wear?
the pictures are clear and understandable but after they are completed do you just put them around you?

    any help would be great!
    thanks
