My ceiling in the bedroom is all finished now. Gone is the miserable stucco popcorn ceiling. this was not an easy task. Given that the whole room was seriously not square, the ceiling had to be strapped first to level it in certain areas. The bead board panels (Home Depot or other big box store) were applied, then wooden cross beams and finally the crown molding.
A coat of Farrow and Ball's All White in Eggshell to polish it off.
This area is waiting for the built in closets. The pocket door has been installed.
We did the Tommy Smythe test (Sarah Richardson's designer colleague) where you take two Loonies ($1.00 coin for all you non Canadians) and hold them up to see if you can see the "Naughty Bits" through the glass. And yes, you can. Given this is in the master bedroom, that doesn't matter. Wouldn't use it in a more public bathroom though.
In the meantime I wait for the bathtub. In stock, it was ordered October 6th. Apparently it really wasn't in stock and had to be made. 1st one wasn't to their liking, so they did it again. Then they put it on a truck. It has been making a Canada/USA tour with a rock band I think. It had been loaded and unloaded 7 times. This morning I am told it got loaded again last night to a truck to another moving company who will unload it, then reload it to bring to me........Agghhh...
The ceiling CHania is just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I followed you on the loonie test?
But that order??What kind of mental cases are in charge of that company?
Why for goodnes sakes was it in Richmond? Did it come from California and up the coast and over land to Toronto?
ReplyDeleteThe ceiling is wonderful! I'm showing it to hubby as soon as he gets home. I love Tommy too. You will have a crazy story to tell about your bathtub by the time you get it. Can't wait to see it. I wish we could get F&B paint out here.
ReplyDeleteCeiling is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHope the tub survives all the ons and offs.
No wonder everything costs so much!
haha I'm sorry the tub thing is funny, just not to you!
ReplyDeleteThat ceiling is fabulous! The entire room will be amazing. You rock!

Wow, Chania, that ceiling looks divine! Your bedroom is really shaping up into something beautiful and sensual, with views on the naughty bits and all that! ;-) I'm sure a sense of humor is helpful when so much patience is required for something ordered two months ago. Oh goodness, I hope you get it before Christmas. Can't wait to see the rest of the bedroom makeover.
ReplyDeleteYour ceiling looks great! I love the beadboard and then the wooden cross beams. Very inspiring Chania.
ReplyDeleteYour ceiling looks fabulous! It sounds as though your bath will have many stories to tell of all it's travels :)
ReplyDeletethe ceiling looks wonderful--you must be pleased, Chania. The room is coming along nicely!
ReplyDeleteWow, such a big job with your ceiling! Looking good. And I'm just jealous of your bathtub - it is better travelled than me! xx
ReplyDeleteI am smitten with the ceiling. The tub is on TOUR. Is it signing autographs?
ReplyDeleteGoodness, did you have to pay a fortune to get that tub delivered? Sounds like you're keeping all the haulage companies in business. Your ceiling is very chic!
ReplyDeleteYour ceiling looks great! I was just wondering today about how your bedroom redo was going. Now I can see why you haven't been able to show us. You must be frustrated with the tub delay and it's always beyond your control to make it happen. I waited 6 months once for my plantations shutters. I feel your pain.

BEAUTIFUL beadboard ceiling!
ReplyDeleteAnd if the tub came from Santa Fe Springs, it could be cursed! (lol, I kid...) Seriously, we just got back from Cali this October, and driving through Santa Fe Springs (and the rest of the LA/Anaheim area) was CRAZY I hope it makes it to you soon!
I love this ceiling!
