I wanted to you see the colour so I painted lips with the Lip Tint. |
I am totally not a lipstick person....if I had gorgeous full lips like Angie I would happily slap it on...but I don't....and I'm 50, and a woman has to be careful about her lips when she's 50. Nothing worse than bleeding lipstick. I don't like bare lips so I am always trying tinted lip products like Burt's Bee's, Covergirl outlast stain and the likes. I recently found Bene Tint by Benefit.....a bottle of gorgeous red dye that you paint on your lips. It comes in a bottle like nail polish with a soft little brush. I applied it and really liked it, noticing the likeness to food coloring in general and Cochineal in particular. My Granny never used Red Dye #2, but always had a little bottle of Cochineal in her pantry. After wearing it everyday for weeks, I decided to check the ingredients...water, rosewater, carmine and quaternium-15 (a preservative) . Carmine is a form of Cochineal. So there you go. After hundreds of years woman are still prettying themselves up with Beetle paint!
cochineal is something i use for dying fabric....never knew it was used on lips too....those little beetles are very useful!..i like the sounds and look of this...thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou just never know, do you. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteDoes it last very long? I detest having to reapply all the time. I have bought other Benefit products, when I worked, and liked them.
ReplyDeleteI think that is hilarious how you drew your lips rather than showing us your lips. I don't wear lip stuff. Just Burts Bees...The thought of bleeding colour off my lips grosses me out...but your right I have seen older women have that problem. I just never knew why.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 50+ woman who loves lipstick...but am uber-careful not to have the bleeding thing going on. Can't wear the long-lasting stuff as 1 - it just doesn't last long on me and 2- find any/all of them too drying. Right now I am loving the Sugar Lip Conditioners from Fresh while at home and usually a Clinique lipstick when out. Will have to try yours next time I'm at Sephora!
ReplyDeleteWHAT would we do without Sephora ... online! My Nars creamy eyeshadows, Sephora eye pencils ... and now I MUST try the lip tint! After all, a 70 year old must have non-bleeding liplines .. yes?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE lipstick! and all the natural products that help keep lips soft and dry-free. Burt's is a staple of mine and I love the Sugar lip conditioners by Fresh that J. uses. I'm going to look for your recommendation Chania and give it a try....long lasting is always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try that in coral..I'll check it out and it can be my next splurge....<3

It makes me wonder how it's collected. Do the bugs die naturally or are they killed?
ReplyDeleteI do like Benefit cosmetics, they're beautifully packaged :)
I've not heard of Benefit, but if you knew me that wouldn't surprise! That lip drawing on the other hand I can judge as one of the best I've seen for a long time. Love it : )
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm a Burt's Bees Gal and I think I may have to look at this. I have NEVER worn lipstick except at my son's wedding - last fall. How sad is that?!?! Ann
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty shade of pink! I will have to check this company out. They say that you shouldn't really put anything on your lips, that they are the part of the body that releases the greatest amount of moisture, and if you prevent that it actually makes your lips dry and brittle, which then makes you apply more products...who knew?! Damn that Dr. Oz for ruining my lip color wearing fun!!! At least this product sounds like it would not do that, he recommended using coconut oil, not sure how that would be different than a balm?!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
So interesting! I'll have to see if I can find it around here. I'm not a lipstick person either and have been using tinted Soft Tints lip balm I buy at Walmart for the past couple of years. :)
ReplyDeleteYour Benetint lips have made my morning! I recently ran out of my bottle. I did use it on my lips, but it works great on your cheeks too. Just blend quickly ;)
ReplyDeletecool! I've never heard of this, so thank you!!
ReplyDeleteall my best,
joan
I might have to try this .. I am so pale, I need the color in my lips . But I too lack the full pouty type of lips and too much color makes them look thinner to me.
ReplyDeleteLately I have been wearing a combo of a lipstick from Mac that is orange-ish and then a gloss over it to moisten it up. It is so hot and sunny, my poor lips are always dry.
You forgot it at the house silly!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like the sounds of this. I might have to try this as I am a lover of lipstick!
ReplyDeleteWho knew!?!?!
ReplyDeleteLove this seasons pinks. THey are so happy and fresh.
Cheers, jj
hmmm beetle paint, huh? hmmmm. I just had a look at this yesterday in Shoppers. I always forget to put something on my lips.
